Scythe Kit Härmän Taonta Water Scythe – for Stream Maintenance, Reeds and Scrub
This scythe kit is designed for stream maintenance and landscape care along ditches, ponds and waterways.
The Härmän Taonta Water Scythe handles tough vegetation better than classic meadow scythes – for example with reeds, blackberries, bindweed or thin branches. The blade lies flat on the ground, but has a steeper angle to the snath than many other scythe blades. This allows you to use different cutting techniques when working along banks, on slopes or in densely overgrown areas.
Scythe blade from Finland: two lengths to choose from
- Long: 55 cm for everyday use
- Short: 30 cm for tight spots or difficult terrain
What’s included in the kit
- Härmän Taonta Water Scythe (choice of 55 cm or 30 cm)
- Orebo wooden snath in Danish design (incl. grips, screws and ring)
- Zische coarse whetstone (corundum, grit 150, 23 cm)
- Zische fine whetstone Silicar Rotmarke (grit 400, 26 cm)
- Schröckenfux whetstone holder made of plastic with metal attachment (whetstone holder)
Why two whetstones?
The coarse stone (150) is designed for more material removal – for example, when the cutting edge has small chips or you need to remove material quickly.
The fine stone (400) is for sharpening during mowing, when you want to refresh a thinly peened cutting edge as gently as possible.
Orebo snath: sizes by body height
- Medium: approx. 155–170 cm
- Long: approx. 170–185 cm
- Extra long: approx. 185–200 cm

Do you need suitable peening tools for your kit?
A scythe only mows easily when the cutting edge is really sharp – for beginners we recommend our hammer peening kit with a Picard hammer and for more experienced users our Schröckenfux kit (peening anvil with support table + peening hammer).
