Zische whetstone medium – Silicar Blaumarke | Grit 220 | extra long (26 cm)

The Silicar® Blaumarke scythe whetstone by Zische in grit 220 is a proven, extra-long all-purpose whetstone for regular use on various scythe blades.
The abrasive grain used, green silicon carbide, combined with the stone’s high hardness, delivers very good sharpening performance with comparatively low wear. This makes the Silicar Blaumarke a well-balanced compromise between material removal and a fine cutting edge.

For over 100 years, the Silicar scythe whetstone has been produced by the German manufacturer Zische – the historical advertising slogan is still well-known today: “True joy indeed has the mower with the Silicar!”

The Silicar Blaumarke measures 26 cm in length and weighs 210 g.

Application

The whetstone can generally be used wet or dry. Wet application is recommended:

• Water prevents clogging of the pores,

• improves sharpening performance, and

• increases the stone’s lifespan.

For this, the stone is kept in a whetstone cup with water and always well moistened during honing.
